Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions, we have answers!
The Therapeutic Process
-
Your first session is all about getting to know each other and setting the stage for your therapy journey. We will review any intake paperwork, discuss your goals, and give you space to ask questions. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Some people dive into details right away, while others prefer to start more generally, and that is perfectly okay.
-
Most of our sessions are 50 to 60 minutes, which gives us enough time to explore what is on your mind without feeling rushed. Some specialized sessions or intensive therapy formats may vary slightly in length, and your therapist will clarify what works best for your needs. We focus on quality, meaningful time rather than just checking the clock.
-
The frequency of sessions depends on your goals, current challenges, and availability. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a routine. Others may benefit from sessions every other week or at a pace that fits their schedule and lifestyle. Your therapist will help create a plan that supports your progress and feels sustainable.
-
Therapy can be helpful for anyone who wants support navigating challenges, improving their mental health, or learning more about themselves. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just curious about personal growth, therapy can provide a safe and structured space to explore these feelings. It is normal to have some hesitation at first, and part of your initial sessions will involve deciding together if therapy feels like a good fit.
-
We offer a range of therapy approaches to meet different needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), EMDR, psychoanalytical therapy, and brain spotting. Your therapist will work with you to identify which methods are most effective for your goals and adjust them as your journey progresses. We focus on creating a personalized approach that is practical, supportive, and rooted in real-life results.
-
Yes, completing intake paperwork at least 24 hours before your first session helps us make the most of our time together. This paperwork collects basic information about your background, health, and goals, which allows your therapist to tailor the session to your needs. If you prefer, our team can guide you through completing these forms by email, text, or in person.
-
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. We encourage you to consider factors like the therapist’s areas of expertise, experience, and personality. If you are unsure, our team can help guide you based on your needs and preferences. Remember, it is okay to switch therapists if you feel another provider might be a better fit for your journey.
Scheduling and Payments
-
Scheduling an appointment is simple. You can book online through our website, call our office, or even send us a text if that feels easier (813-803-0961). We understand that talking on the phone or sending an email can feel like too much sometimes. Our team will help find a time that works for you and make the process as smooth as possible so you can focus on starting your therapy journey without unnecessary stress.
-
Yes, we offer secure telehealth sessions for clients who prefer to meet virtually. Telehealth provides the flexibility to attend therapy from home, work, or anywhere you feel comfortable. These sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions, and your therapist will ensure you feel supported and connected throughout.
-
We ask that clients provide at least 24 hours notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows us to offer the session to someone else and keeps your therapy plan on track. If emergencies arise, we handle those on a case-by-case basis, and your therapist will work with you to minimize any disruption.
-
Payment is due at the time of your session. Your credit card and insurance card will be held in your online secure portal. We also offer flexible payment options or plans if needed. Our goal is to make accessing therapy as stress-free as possible so you can focus on your mental health.
-
We accept most major insurance plans, including Florida Blue, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and Oscar and more. If you are unsure whether your plan is covered, our team can verify your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises.
-
After your first session, we will submit your insurance claims to your insurance company. Some insurances process claims quickly, usually within 1–2 weeks, while others can take up to 90 days. Once the claim is processed, the insurance company will let us know your copay, coinsurance, or deductible. You will also receive an Explanation of Benefits, or EOB, either by mail or email if you opted for that, which is like a receipt from your insurance showing what you may owe for your services.
If you have questions at any point, please contact our office. We are often able to provide an estimated cost for your sessions, though we always recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card for the most accurate information. Our goal is to make insurance as simple and stress-free as possible so you can focus on your therapy.
-
If you prefer not to use insurance or do not have coverage, we offer private pay options. Session rates range from $95 to $150, depending on the therapist and type of appointment, such as individual, couples, or family sessions. We also offer a sliding scale for those who qualify, because we believe therapy should be accessible and affordable. Our team can help you find a payment option that works for your budget so you can focus on your mental health without added stress.
Confidentiality and Policies
-
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is private and protected by law. Your sessions are confidential, and your therapist will not share information without your permission, except in certain situations required by law, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. Our goal is to create a safe space where you can feel comfortable being open and honest.
-
We understand that life does not always fit neatly between sessions. You can reach out to your therapist via our office phone, secure messaging through Sessions Health (your online portal), or email for non-urgent matters. While therapists may not respond immediately, we will get back to you as soon as possible. For emergencies, please call 911, 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.
-
Your privacy is very important to us. All of your records, including intake paperwork and session notes, are stored securely and only accessible to your therapist and authorized staff. We follow HIPAA guidelines and other legal requirements to protect your information and ensure your trust is respected.
